  12. Does anyone know how to connect a PC modem to a C-64 modem
  13. WITHOUT HAVING BOTH CONNECTED TO A LIVE PHONE LINE?

  16. I've succesfully made a connection from my PC modem to my C-64
  17. modem, but to do so I have to have them both connected to the
  18. live phone line.

  20. I've tried just connecting them together without a live phone
  21. line in the loop, but it doesn't work.

  23. Here's what I've been doing:
  24.  1. Connect PC to live phone line.
  25.  2. Connect C-64 to live phone line. (I have an old 300 baud
  26.                             C-64 modem which requires you to 
  27.                             remove the handset from the
  28.                             curly handset cord and then plug the
  29.                             curly handset cord directly into the
  30.                             C-64 modem.) 
  31.  3. Take a third phone off the hook. When dial tone stops
  32.     sounding and line becomes quiet I am able to make the 
  33.     connection between the two modems.
  34.  
  35. If I now try to disconnect the two modems from the live phone
  36. line (and just leave the two computers connected to each other)
  37. I loose the modem-to-modem connection.  Any ideas?
