- Does anyone know how to connect a PC modem to a C-64 modem
- WITHOUT HAVING BOTH CONNECTED TO A LIVE PHONE LINE?
-
-
- I've succesfully made a connection from my PC modem to my C-64
- modem, but to do so I have to have them both connected to the
- live phone line.
-
- I've tried just connecting them together without a live phone
- line in the loop, but it doesn't work.
-
- Here's what I've been doing:
- 1. Connect PC to live phone line.
- 2. Connect C-64 to live phone line. (I have an old 300 baud
- C-64 modem which requires you to
- remove the handset from the
- curly handset cord and then plug the
- curly handset cord directly into the
- C-64 modem.)
- 3. Take a third phone off the hook. When dial tone stops
- sounding and line becomes quiet I am able to make the
- connection between the two modems.
-
- If I now try to disconnect the two modems from the live phone
- line (and just leave the two computers connected to each other)
- I loose the modem-to-modem connection. Any ideas?
-
- Please e-mail with suggestions. Thanks.
